A Letter to Mom

Dear Mom,

How are things? We're adjusting to the new situation here. A new member means a new atmosphere and a different way of doing things. Dad is not really happy with the situation but don't worry, he still knows what's best for her daughter. He'll grin and bear it. :-)

It's a hectic morning. My sis is at the hair salon getting her hair and make up done. She's going to be sworn as a doctor. Finally. Who would have thought she'd make it. Do you remember? She'd wanted to be a botanist instead of a doctor. Do you also remember how you'd cried on my shoulder? I didn't know then that you were worried we might not cover her school expenses. And, those stomachaches? Stomachaches before her tests? The early visits to ER at 4? Who could forget?

Last night, she told me the scenario of the event. She said there will be a time when the MC calls each candidate doctor by the name and his/her parents' names and he/she approaches them. It's going to be hard, I think. It's even harder because it was your dream for her to be a doctor and yet, you are not there....

But.... aren't you really there? I remember "To Where You Are" by Josh Groban. He's right. Who can say for certain? Maybe... just maybe, you're still here.... And if you're here, you'd be so proud of your doctor daughter. I know I am.

Lots of love,

Daffodil
