Mesjid Raya

Another majestic grandeur that I've adored was finally in front of me. It is the witness of the catastrophic tsunami in 2004 and I bet if it could speak, it would tell so many stories.

I wonder if it could tell everybody how the actual situation was when people saw it being uplifted by the harsh water and provided shelter for the people who were homeless and 'lost'.

Or, why the water surrounding it was as calm as the bathtub water within its complex while the raging water crushed everything outside of the mosque's fence.

Or perhaps tell heroic stories of how so many people looked for the dead and others' family members while they weren't unsure yet whether their own beloved ones's condition was alive or dead.

The water actually reached the pillars and the clock stopped during the earthquake. It still is.

Visiting it was magic. Too bad we had to hurry to give us more chance to visit other places.
