AVATAR

When I heard that hollywood was going to produce a movie called AVATAR, my mind immediately went to the cartoon version of the AVATAR I love. Too bad, it's a different one. The other version , AVATAR: The Legend of Aang (or some people may also call the movie as AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER) is moi choice. I watched the movie for the first time in 2007 when I was teaching in South Sumatera where not much entertaintment was available. :-)

The story line is a common one, the good versus the evil. There are conflicts here and there which make the movie enjoyable for kids as well as for adults (guess which one I am. hehehe). The pics are great in their own simplest way of drawing and I can watch each episode at my own convenient time because of its short duration.

What I like about Aang is his character. With so much burden on his shoulders to save the world, he could stay a child and could afford to act like a child. At first he didn't want to accept the fact that he was the chosen one who would have to fight over the nation of FIRE by learning all the four powers of the AIR, WATER, SOIL and certainly, FIRE. I don't blame him. He was only a twelve year-old kid. But don't ask about his wits. Inside that playful mind hide tons of tricks and unpredictable schemes that could get him into or away from trouble.

I've heard that there's a movie coming this summer 2010. The Aang AVATAR. The AVATAR who can bend the air. The one who would save the world. MY Avatar. Can't hardly wait....
