I finally found the benefit of the tweets from the people I follow.
First, I could have the latest updates on traffic situations during rush hour. It's like a real-time info and I could actually make use of that. In the social network I've followed, most people talk about themselves and they rarely share information about traffic or places. When I follow this, I could also contribute info on the traffic condition of the roads I'm taking at a certain time. And then my update is retweeted. It's weird but seeing my update with my name retweeted and can be used (and seen) by the people of Jakarta makes me happy.
If you are a fan of some band, joining Twitter has its own function. I could know what Ari Lasso's thinking. Or Katy Perry's activity. Or Andra and the Backbones' tour schedule and get updates of what's happening behind the scenes. I can also monitor this and get info on what he thinks about the cool places to hang out and have a delicious meal. Sometimes, if the question has something to do with a place in Kelapa Gading area, I jump in and give accurate info.
It's a new kind of interaction, I must say. You know people and yet you don't need to know them, you keep in touch in a different way. I learn new things everyday. And I hope I can get more from Twitter.
