Just Another Day At Work...

Still remember the girl's father i visited on sunday? He died yesterday afternoon.... I know that he had put some struggle to survive but somehow technology and human expertise just have to surrender to the power of God at times.... After finding out the news, i quickly contacted the office to ask whether we could have transport to visit the mourning family....

We left at 13.30 but the house was not familiarly located so we spent an hour just to get to her house. When we finally reached the place, both mom and daughter wept and the tears went faster when they saw us... There wasnt anything i could do.... That caused a lot of pain inside...knowing that i was in that position three years before...i can definitely tell how empty it felt losing someone....

The mellow situation was not for the whole day, though.... Imagine...two teachers could fight over a printer.... A printer.... Ck...ck...ck.... Please deh ah..... When people in TimTim are worried about their lives and their loved ones.... When people in Jogja wonder what'll happen to their lives after the quake....When FBR is busy preparing a counter attack after Ratna Sarumpaet filed a legal complaint to the police.... (!!!) Masih ada waktu buat kelahi printer.... Pathetic.......:'-(

But then i tried to have my own fun.... I managed to ask a student to have a bet with me.... One of his friends drew a Hitler-like moustache and put tattoes all over his arms.... To make his appearance worse, he pulled his pants up to the chest covering his pot-bellied stomach...... ;-) I asked him if he dared to go with me to the teacher's room and literally "make himself famous" by waving at everybody, i would then give him Rp 10.000.... Not surprisingly....he said "yes" and we shook hands....
When it's time to go home, as promised, he went downstairs with me and "make himself famous" by waving at everybody with a disturbingly-annoying voice.... Along the stairs, he mumbled "ten thousand...ten thousand...." I guess that was his way to "motivate" himself.... Finally, of course, he won the bet.I gave him the money and i was not even close to being sorry.... I asked him what he was going to do with the money and he said that he would buy more snacks for the night.... I know he does not need the money because i saw he had plenty of it in his wallet.... I just think that the bet was as good for me as for him...... ;-)
