Anger is the root of ....

It is commonly not unusual for me to have this hectic class. Thirteen girls (who don't want to be called kids) and three boys (two of them always bring their GAMEBOY to class). The girls looove to shout. The boys enjoy running around and smacking each other down. The girls like to say words like, "Bakar, sate, injek Miss!!!". The boys have this thirst for attention. Everything was a little bit out of control almost everyday, except for this particular day....

I gave a quiz on that day. It was about creating questions in English. When a student asked me the meaning of a word, I patiently tried to explain that to her. She obviously did not catch what I said so I repeated my answer. All of a sudden, the girl who sat in front of her scream, "Udah diem!!! Bacot!" Her face was right at me so I definitely was sure that she meant those words to me. GGGGGGRRRRRGGGHHHHH!!! So I spoke loudly, "What do you mean? Why do you say those words? So you think that I let everything go, I wouldn't be angry? What did your mother teach you?"

I now couldn't remember what I exactly said or how my expressions were, but one thing is for sure, the girls behave a bit afterwards. And the day after that....
Hmmmmmh.... Is this what you call reverse psychology? Or is it really the language that the girls have known since they've probably heard it a lot at home?Maybe it is not entirely their fault, right?

Suddenly I felt sorry that I let the steam out of my mouth like so. But should I have let everything happen and not letting them know that how misbehave they are? I tell you, being an educator is not an easy work....
