Why do people have to hold meetings?
Basically because they want to decide on something that needs more than one opinion. Or, it's just a mere contract signing. In my line of work, not to mention working in Indonesia, familiarity is extremely importante. Somehow, that can ease communication and makes the seeds of trust bloom. Believe it or not. My meetings for this normally would take 15 to 30 minutes top. Of course this means that I'm not bringing my boss with me. :-)
Then comes the second question.
When do people hold meetings?
The morning energy definitely has its own 'bites'. I had meetings about the same thing, one was held at around 2 and another at around 9. Guess which one triggered more arguments?
How long does it take?
Well, I've learned that 'the more, the merrier'. One must take that idiom both in its positive and negative interpretation. Participants of a meeting who have put their authority in practice are definitely the 'catalisators' of a lively meeting. So, now back to the 'how long' question. More people usually take longer time.
I normally like meetings. They give me chance to meet my friends from different units and branches. But with so many things that have been going on, especially this passed week, I am terribly sick of meetings.
