The Dream of the 2nd Awakening

I am sure there are many ways to keep that nationalism blood running. I myself do that,as a way, by following the flag-raising ceremony at the office on every Independence Day whenever I can. What can I say? History of fighting for independence, nationalism, national heroes, national anthem and heroism in every aspect were how I was brought up with. Not to mention that the military background in the family fosters the idea that independence was something very hard to get. And of course, how nationalism determines a wider meaning and an everchanging manifestation of the word 'independence'.

And THAT is the reason why I think the 'older' education system really worked. It teaches all the above.

It's true what Sophan Sophiaan said.So many have lost their nationalism. Less and less people understand the idea of self-integrity, let alone 'national integrity'. They steal from the country. They take from the poor. They sell national assets. They fight for their own party or group. They can't see a bigger picture that the only thing that works is stability and consistency in leading
this country to a country that does have a vision and mission for its people.

Is nationalism something very rare to find?

For all I know, the death of Sophan should not stop the campaign for nationalism. It should be considered as a reminder to all of us that after all this time of being 'independent', there are still plenty of homework if we want to be able to see our country with full of pride. And only then, the premonition that our country will be the new super power of the east shall come true.

So, the young generations of Indonesia. There's no better time than NOW for the 2nd awakening of our country.
