Lower Rate for 'Texting'

I have been a loyal customer for this particular cellular network for more than 9 years. Just last year,I started to join the post-paid system and with that membership, I got the detailed print out of all transactions, calls, texts and surfing time in the internet using my cell.

I am looking at the list print out and I found out that the rate to text is lower than the usual Rp 300. It's Rp 100 to text to a friend who's using the same network, and Rp 150 for different one. In other words, now I can send 3 messages for the price of Rp 300. How convenient!I normally spend Rp 500 to text a friend abroad. Now? It's just Rp 400 which means there's 20% discount. Haaaa.....!! :-)

And after I look further, the rate for surfing in the net is becoming cheaper! If I count it right, I only pay Rp 0.2 per 1 kilobyte. This works well if you're chatting using your handphone. I think it goes the same case when you use your cell as a modem for your PC while surfing. Still, you need to watch the kilobytes. They tend to go very fast and before you know it, you already upload more than 10 megabytes.

I read in the newspaper that the government is accommodating all means necessary so that operators lower the rates. I just hope that it's not a promotion program or a sales gimmick which lasts temporarily.

All in all, I save more than 30% of the usual total phone bill!!! Amongst all these economical uncertainties, at least there is something to be happy about.
