The first food we had in mind when we arrived in Aceh was MIE ACEH. It's a kind of food we 'targeted'.:D Tonight was our luck. We tried the hotel version mie aceh since it was late already. Apparently, we hang out at the hotspot zone too long.;)
It's a kind of noodle in red beef broth with an image of being very hot. It's not hot, it's actually spicy. The chef added shrimp, squid, beef liver and some veggies. On top of that, he put scrambled egg. To accompany the noodle, it is served with sliced cucumber, red onion pickle and a slice of lemon. Quite refreshing and it's body warming.
The second dish I ordered was cap cay kuah. Very different from the cap cay I know, it didn't come in a clear broth. Instead, the veggies were swimming in deep red broth, just like the mie aceh. Our guess was that the chef has a prepared spicy paste that works for all Aceh dishes. And about the beef.... Sorrrrryyyy Keeeennnnnnn....
