I've been blessed this year, though there are ups and downs and life seems like a roller coaster (it still IS!!!). :D
I made a visit to my sis' home and we celebrated the Eidul Mubarak there. After picking up my Mom's friend in her dormitory, we passed the light traffic. It seemed everybody left Jakarta for the holiday.
Playing with my nephew is fun, as usual. I bought him a mat with toys hanging above his head. The experts say that at this age, babies tend to look at bright colors and they enjoy musical stuff. The gift was just perfect.
I and my brother bought a goat and had it slaughtered there. What a cool goat! Ever wonder why there's that 'DR' hanging on his neck? It's 'doctor' in short form. :) My sis is well-known by her title and everybody in the neighborhood calls her 'ibu dokter' (madam doctor). Funny nickname. It's very uncommon. Especially nowadays. :)
I got a little irritated, though. The committee asked for a 'fee' for the person who slaughters the cattle. In the 'old' days, he usually gets a kind of 'payment'. It's usually the goat's skin and head. Even then, he was not even supposed to ask, it should be something that was voluntarily given by the slaughtering committee.
Besides, isn't it slaughtering for the cattles on an Islamic holiday considered religious?
