I wonder, well 'have been wondering' is a more precise expression, how on earth the people with the same title are in their 'unbusy' state. They have time to teach, to keep their working hours as they are, to finally be transferred to a unit that needs more personnel desperately.
About work, aggressive marketing is something that I just cannot afford. There's simply not enough people with the right skills to work on such demanding project, not to mention, a demanding client. Finding people is just one of the responsibilities. There are many others.
And soon enough I realize that I have put myself into trouble by planning more and more projects. I think they're necessary. I think the job title should be doing those projects. I think maintenance is as important as promotion. I think, I think, and I think.... :t Without any patron, I am basically forced to grow wild in a field that, thankfully, has not lost its interest on us. Yet. Yeah, I am still waiting for that 'wind of change' to come and feeling the fresh breeze of revelation. :d
And indeed, I got that. After waiting for almost 3 years, the patron finally met with us (his force) in an 8-hour (supposedly) meeting. Ever wonder what happens in a meeting when things have been left aside for more than two years? The forum transformed into a complaint-receiving session. With the style of presenting using slides that everyone could basically read from the handouts, cutting in was more than easy to do. Most of the audience were guys and it was slightly funny to see how they filed the complaints. It was also amusing to listen to the kinds of input they'd conveyed. I couldn't help myself from smiling once in a while, but got desperately bored most of the time. :)
'If we should have a standard of room arrangement, what about the budget?'
'To increase professionalism, all of our frontliners should wear a uniform.'
'What about the job description, Sir? What are our actual responsibilities?'
Room arrangement? Checked!
Uniform? Checked!
Job description? I have described it myself. Checked!
Responsibilities? Well, when people were left to grow by themselves, it's only natural that they decide what the responsibilities are after they learn the rope. Three years, Ladies & Gentlemen. What do they expect? After the first three months went by, they should have known that they had no choice but to stand up, see and learn, and then decided what they must or must not do, what they can or cannot, and what they should or shouldn't have done. I've been doing that alright.... Too impatient to wait, I'm afraid.... :P
Most likely, the chemistry in their respective places have not worked well. The staff could formulate a plan, the branch boss accommodates. But it doesn't always work that way.:( Just like that uniform request. No other places requested that and the patron did not seem to consider having one, so I did ask. Surprise! They agreed! And voila! Starting from term 1, we have our own uniform.:z
It's not right, I know. But if that what it takes to make the workplace better, I will do. I've been doing it and every achievement has made me feel good.
So, the question is....
Will I like this 'wind of change' that would make everything more organized (and yet there's no guarantee that everything would work out well)?
Or, do I still enjoy being in the 'wild' and can make any progress that suits to my unit's needs with no interference?
