Radiotherapy Day One

I went to RSCM from my husband's office and so the trip was not that far. Just what I needed, a relaxed and short-distance trip for a first time four o'clock radiotherapy.

Fifteen minutes after my arrival, the nurse checked my blood pressure. It was 198/108. I didn't feel dizzy, no head pains either. 'You are probably still tired from the trip. Let's wait another hour,' the nurse said. The level did not go down after another hour.

My husband told me that I need to take my medication which I did not have with me since the operation. My blood pressure was absolutely fine after and so I never bring the pills in my bag. He then texted a janitor at his office and I finally had my pill at 19.00. At 19.45, I asked for another measuring but the result was not satisfactory. I asked the nurse what to do then, she called for a stand-by doc. The doc kind of interviewed me a bit and asked for a manual blood pressure meter (?). I had one last check-up and the result was 135/70.

135/70!!! I was so excited. And relieved. I don't know if it is because of the medication or the change of tool, I was just relieved. I finally had my radiotherapy at 21.05. FIVE hours behind schedule. I was tired and hungry, my dear husband was, too. He is just a best friend. No complaining just calming and kept on feeding me with foods I brought from home (which made him went back and forth to the car and the building).

Not a good experience. I am determined, though, to have a better radiotherapy day tomorrow.
