I finally take my leave today. It was a difficult session with the managers and their laptops yesterday. In the next three days, I will have to teach for 6 hours: 3 hours in the morning and another 3 in the evening. A leave is something to cool my brain down and gives me time to think about myself, which I have rarely done recently. Since today I have the time and accompanied by a cup of Hot Cocoa from Swiss Miss, I want to share about my favorite movie, Chocolat. My friends would immediately say,"Yeah...you like chocolate. You can bake chocolate stuff. You practically like anything with chocolate. No wonder you like this movie." As much as I hate that they are right, it's true that the title intrigued me into buying the VCD. But the chocolate is not the only attraction.
Johny Depp is. The fringe benefits? The beautiful scenery and photographic montage. They are lovely. And of course, the plot. It's about a single woman with a daughter who have traveled from one place to another because the fact that she has no husband makes her an outcast. Finally, she reaches this place (I assume it's somewhere in France) still in search for a place she could call 'home'. As she has anticipated, the people are no different from the others she'd met before, except for one difference. She and her daughter were not the only outcast. There is a boat full of Gypsi-like tribe people and Johny Depp is the one Gypsi man who finally gets to her.
The movie has a happy ending when they all finally find the place as their 'home' and make the natives accept them through nothing but warm hearts and what else? Chocolate, naturally.
